Here's the handouts I gave out to support a presentation on the BSMS current awareness service I run at the annual meeting of medical school secretaries.
An interesting discussion is developing on the Medlib-L list on the future of collection development lists. The Brandon-Hill list has been for many years the US standard, while here in the UK we have the Medical Information Working Party's list. But now Brandon-Hill is to be discontinued (MIWP announced a new edition for 2003 but it has yet to appear).
The most interesting part of the discussion seems to me to be how we might move to more evidence-based collection development.

There is a person on your staff called Tom Roper, whom I believe to be a librarian of some kind...' from a letter to the Vice-Chancellor of Sussex University, 26 June 2010
