The lights are going out all over Europe

Any blogger could fill reams with posts exposing inaccuracies. I spotted the other day, but see that rogueclassicism got there first, some very odd dating of Herodotus on UK Tech Cruch, in an articles about demotix.
So I shall have to be content with pointing out  Stuart Jeffries' misattribution to Winston Churchill, in an article on light bulbs,  of the words, "the lights are going out all over Europe; we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime'. As any fule kno, it was Edward Grey, the Foreign Secretary at the time, who said this just before the start of the First World War.
