Today's' Guardian carries a supplement sponsored by JISC, the Digital Student. There's nothing astonishingly new in it, but the piece on design of learning spaces, which features Oaklands, caught my eye, as we think about the design of a new Learning Resource Centre at South Thames College. They claim, among other things, a 500% increase in use of their VLE, though to make sense of that figure one needs to know before and after figures.
I was intrigued to learn that Oaklands failed their Ofsted inspection, and see that the new design is part of their strategy to improve their score. But the news that Ofsted has previously scored Haringey Social Services as 'good' rather devalues the currency.
