I attended a workshop for Fellowship candidates held at CILIP last week. led by Margaret Chapman. I have been thinking and talking about making an application to become a Fellow of CILIP, FCLIP, for too long.
The workshop was useful; it persuaded me that, while the work involved in putting together a portfolio is hard, I have enough in my experience to put together a coherent application. I'm going to use the blog to record progress. This may make for some dull posts, though it is possible other candidates might find them interesting.
There are two themes to my application:
- The contribution to the profession I have made by building professional organisations and networks
- The impact on professional practice I've made by developing innovative services
Some useful resources are:
CILIP's Fellowship Handbook PDF (not updated since 2004, but it is the current version)
CILIP's page for candidates, with links at the bottom to the application form, advice on letters of support, the schedule of fees, and articles by Elspeth Hyams and Ayub Khan.
