This month's Library and Information Update contains a Libraries of the Future supplement, sponsored by JISC, and also available online, though in a format demanding Flash that ran very badly on my work PC. Of particular interest is the article on further education, which reports on the work of JISC Regional Support Centres (RSCs) in the sector, and describes the experience of Barnet College who, like my own workplace, use OLIB. I must see what Barnet have done to integrate OLIB into their electronic learning environment, and if they have been able to implement any of the features that our catalogue cries out for: RSS feeds of search results, personalisation, including user commenting and tagging, reading list management and so on.
The Libraries of the Future blog makes no mention of the supplement, having stalled and stopped updating on 18 June, nearly five months ago.
