I went to Plumpton, an extraordinary day, for I saw something I have never seen before: as the horses and jockeys rode out of the paddock to the start of the Sussex National, Pass Me By threw his rider, Paul O'Neill, right in front of me. He was remounted, but continued to be nervous and there was doubt as to whether he would start. But start he did, and, in spite of some eccentric running and jumping wildly to the right over the last fences, took the race from Zimbabwe by a length and a half.
I had no winners, so will l not record my elections. my daughter however managed three winners in five races.
