Press release from CILIP on their evidence to the Culture, Media and Sport Committee inquiry into public libraries.
I see it took place in the Thatcher room: a subtle revenge on that enemy of knowledge and culture.
And away with the knee breeches and secrecy: CILIP have had permission for the Clerk of the Committee to publish their evidence.
(This was controversial during the sessions of the Science and Technology Committee's Inquiry into Scientific Publications: some who gave evidence were happy to publish it on the web, others, including CILIP, feared it might be a breach of privilege and that they would be sent to the Tower by way of Traitor's Gate).
