To my knowledge no one has yet pointed out the similarities between the influence exerted on the government's response to Scientific Publications: free for all? by the publishing industry and that exerted by the big gaming corporations over the Gambling Bill to achieve the New Labour aim of redistribution of wealth form the poor to the rich. Worth a thought?
In another encouraging development, CILIP Chief Executive Bob McKee confirmed on the lis-cilip list that CILIP would be replying in the strongest terms, possibly jointly with SCONUL and CURL
