Can the British Library's media profile rise any higher ? Not only do they field a team in University Challenge tonight, in Saturday's FT the Chief Executive, Lynne Brindley, is the subject of their The books that matter to feature. Augurs will puzzle over her choices, looking for hints about the BL's future strategy. I reproduce them here in the hope that others can make sense of them:
Simon, Francesca Horrid Henry's Nits
Whitfield, Susan Life along the Silk Road
Ward, Robert London's New River
20th Century Painting and Sculpture in the Philadelphia Museum of Art
Alcott, Louisa May Little Women
As an aside, one might criticise the FT for the low level of bibliographic information they offer in this feature. in contrast to their book reviews which are OK. But I think all review pages should emulate the London Review of Books and include ISBNs.
