Two letters in today's THES in response to the piece on open archiving in the previous issue. Iain Stevenson claims, unconvincingly I think, that open access is only for the rich, while Steve Harnad corrects the impression given that he was arguing for self-archiving as a substitute for publication in peer-reviewed journals, rather than in addition. Online content is only available to subscribers, but the paper reference is: THES January 9 2004 1622: 17
