A happy new year to you, dear reader, and with a new year the madness that is Janathon starts. According to the rules, one must run every day, record the run on RunningFree and blog about it.
Today I took part in the traditional Seaford Striders New Year's Day run, along the seafront from the Martello tower to the sailing club and back. We have been doing this, according to club captain Martin Bulger, for over twenty years. Young members and old take part, and the outward leg is taken at an easy pace. The return journey can be taken at an easy pace, or as a mad dash, according to taste and is about two and a half miles.
I added to this runs to and from home, making a total of 4.06 miles. The weather being fine, the seafront was crowded with people out for new year strolls, and at times we had some traffic problems, but it was so pleasant to be out in sunshine. The waves were spectacular, but did not deter one of our number from taking a post-run dip in the sea.
