I have several runs to report in this post but, encouragingly, I think more frequent running and some speed sessions are having an effect.
Last week, after four miles to Hope Gap, I did another four miles along Seaford front with 30 second bursts of fast running, an easy four miles on the South Hill Barn, Hope Gap, Seaford Head route and eight miles on Sunday to the peak of Haven Brow, the nearest of the Seven Sisters, and back. Sunday running along the path that leads to the Sisters from the car park at Exceat is not recommended. The paths are clogged with English language students. I was stopped at a stile by a group of Italians who wanted to know which was the path to the beach and which up the cliffs. I pointed out, patiently, that the cliff path was the one that ascended the hill, while the path to the beach was the level one.
Miles last week: 20.12
On Sunday it was six weeks till the Firle half marathon and thirty four weeks till the Brighton marathon
Then last night I ran with the Striders, out to High and Over, then along the west bank of the Cuckmere, a route I haven't tried before, out to the coastguard cottages and back over Seaford Head. It was an agreeable way to pass an evening, and we spent a little time being briefed for Sunday's Seaford Marathon. The weather forecast at the moment is for sunny intervals, temperatures of 20°C and south-westerly winds of 14 mph (force 4).
