I started running again last weekend after a gap of over two weeks,, caused by a stay in hospital to remove a lump of Irish stew from my oesophagus, with a consequent throat infection and general debilitation. So I went for s short three mile run along the front on Saturday, and on Sunday ran the Seaford Head by way of South Hill Barn and the Cuckmere route. I was not fast by any means, but I feel a lot better for it. If I don't run, I feel awful. I supplemented these with a swim in the sea on Sunday, though not for very long: the water was still quite chilly.
Now I have rashly said I'll do Juneathon . The rules are flexible enough to include other forms of exercise besides running. This is good, so for days when I can't run or swim, the preferred modes of exercise, so like many other Juenathoners, I've been looking at the 100 press-ups, 200 sit-ups and 200 squats sites. I've never been very good with this sort of thing. My mother used to observe that I had been a very 'floppy' baby, making me wonder if I was not prematurely born, and I was dreadful at press-ups in PE classes at school. But I'm sure I can work my way up to 100.
