I set off for fifteen miles today, but was thwarted. I was about two miles out, on a narrow path and met a large dog walker, with an even larger dog. As I wondered how it would be possible to pass large dog walker and larger dog on such a narrow path, I tripped on a root and fell, grazing my knees. At first, I thought I would give up and go home, but after a bit of walking I felt better, but decided to revise my plan, and go for around ten miles instead. I went up to Fiveways and across to Norton and Bishopstone, then back along the front. The knees held out, though are stiff now. I know that one should expect setbacks in sixteen weeks of training but I do seem to have had more than usual this time. No matter, I have done nine marathons before and have enough training under my belt to do this one too. I used ibuprofen gel on my toe, to good effect.
