The running is fine, it's the blogging I can;t cope with. Here I present you with a whole week of running, including two in Normandy. I love running abroad, and, now I am no longer part of the international conference jet set, holidays are the only chance. This week and last I was on leave, so was able to run more frequently than the three times a week I manage while commuting, and I feel the benefits.
Tuesday: an attempt at a speed session, with nine 400m fast runs with 200m recoveries, and a warm-up and cool-down. I ran this round the harbour at Port-en-Bassin, where we were staying. Some of the fast sessions got muddled.
Time: 55:01
Distance: 4.96

First 400m: 2:22:11/9.32
Second 400m: 2:28:95/9.59
Third 400m: 2:29:35/10.01
Fourth 400m: 2:39:86/10.43

Ninth 400m: 2:34:17/10.20
Wednesday: a five mile run, out to the lighthouse and back on the main road. I was disappointed that, due to erosion, the paths over the cliffs were closed.
Time: 48:15
Distance: 4.59
Pace: 10.40
Friday: back in England, I ran seven miles out to Seaford Head and back.
Time: 1:17:41
Distance: 7.12
Pace: 10.55
Sunday: as Paula Radcliffe recovered from her disappointing but courageous marathon in Beijing, I should have run the Henfield Half marathon, but domestic circs didn't permit. Foolishly, instead of running in the sunny morning, I waited until the overcast and windy afternoon, going up to Bo Peep, then turning east, down to Alfriston and along the Cuckmere. A mistake, as the Cuckmere valley is a giant wind tunnel. Nature notes: herons, a cormorant, some egrets, no end of geese, cows, sheep...
Time: 2:50:02
Distance: 15.01
Pace: 11.20
Total mileage this week: 31.68
Six weeks till the Firle 20K
Ten weeks till the Beachy Head Marathon
