I was going to run to Firle Beacon again today, but changed my mind and went along the front. The programme suggested a 5 mile or 10 K race but there are none to be had anywhere near here this weekend, so I decided to run 11 mile instead, but not at race pace. There was timber everywhere from the wreck of the Ice Prince. wrecked off Portland Bill. The Seaford lumpen-proletariat had come in vans of every sort to collect it, others had barrows and improvised arrangements of pram-wheels. The coastguard and the police stood by, intervening only when some small boys tried to take some away. I ran to the end of the Newhaven East pier, then back, with a small detour through Tide Mills
Injuries: no dog bites, but a badly scratched left calf after meeting some barbed wire on the beach.
This is the end of the first quarter of training. I feel tired, but so I should.
