For my first post-Beachy Head run, I waited until in Cambridge and ran the Trumpington and Granchester route on a beautifully sunny early November morning. It all looked lovely as I ran past the commuters in their cars queuing their way into Cambridge on the Trumpington Road, and the boys on bicycles in the purple and black blazer of my old school pedalling through the leaves. It was a good time of year at school: rehearsals for the school play would be in hand (usually Shakespeare, though we branched out and also did plays by Marlowe, Ford, Dekker and even Sophocles). I met a group of more determined runners, girls from one of the college sports teams I would guess, who set out over a cross-country route. I stuck to the roads.
